Blaze (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles Soundtrack)

Hurricanes, Typhoons and more

Rita finally landed Texas on Saturday, flooding New Orleans once again. Lucky that Rita had downgraded to a Cat 3 tropical storm from a Cat 5 hurricane, falling short of public's damage expectation. Residents were evacuated from the area days ago, leaving behind their houses and non-movables to brave out the storm. Houston suffered heavy rains and strong winds brought abt by Rita. Oil refineries and firms were forced to shut down.

Over at the other side of the world, Japan had Typhoon Saola, China had Damrey, Taiwan is recovering from Talim, earthquake in India. World coming to an end?? With my 2 yrs of geography knowledge, I link these recent catastrophes to global warming although there exists some reports which refutes this deduction. Global warming leads to temperature increases => Ice Bergs melting faster and global temperature increases => Sea temperature increases => upset of monsoonic pattern/barometer pressures => stronger hurricanes and typhoons that does not follow the tradition route.

With so many typhoons, I wonder how they came up with names for them so I looked it up in Yahoo.

Naming of Hurricanes

Hurricane Name Lists

There's actually a Hurricane/Typhoon Nicole! Mwahhahahaha.. Not very devastating thou. Subtropical Storm Nicole is a LIBRAN!! Hurricane Nicole occurred in Nov 1998.

There's a stark difference in the reporting focus of hurricanes in the west and typhoons/tsunamis in the east. The Aceh tsunami focused on death tolls. Katrina and Rita focuses on oil. Is oil more important than human lives?? Maybe, judging from the fact that every report carries at least a line abt oil production and that they're producing abt a quarter of the world's consumption. With actual damage of Rita totalling to less of expectation, oil prices are easing. Petrol in Sg decreases by 2-3 cents. (Bear in mind they increased 9 cents the other time. Its still crazily high.)

All the windy stuff aside, last friday was spent with the animals again for our teh bing fix aka Friday Kopitiam Invasion. And stupid me happily left house without wallet, only to realise it when I was abt to reach the destined kopitiam.

Went sunshine plaza (again!) on sat after drums. Its a dangerous place to go, esp jus after getting my pay. I spent 60 bucks there and weighed down my hp with a bundle of hanging stuff. In addition, I pre-ordered GSD's 2006 calendar. Yeah I'm a fanatic of GSD, esp Cagalli. Yes I'm weak. I jus cant resist their calling out to me from the display windows.

Cagalli Swings~

Tsubasa/Tactics hp accessories~

I'm still waiting for someone to bar me from going there...

Yipz, I've received 6 PartyWorld discount vouchers in the mailbox. All expiring October. Anyone interested?

Ship of Fools (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles Soundtrack)

做虫吃蛇-ing

Moo Moo Definition: Literally Be worm eat snake. Hokkienly Nuah Ga Jiak Zhua. All in all, Zoh Boh-ness.

That was precisely what I've been doing for the past week since coming back from my pathetic one day mc. Pretend to look bz, doing routine permitting and ad-hoc BA stuff. That is after my horrific consecutively 3 days 7pm off work. Not very good. All my work piles at the beginning of the mth, and its 做虫吃蛇-ing after that. Like what I'm doing now, at this moment, bio-ing and rating the guys that comes in for job interviews.

I detached (and lost) my Sony Nudes in the cab on Friday. It was then that I realise I couldnt live without my Nudes (sounds crude but it means SONY NUDES, not porno).
The Nudes was tangled with the seat belt.
Sequence of Event
I paid the cab driver after stopping at the lobby,
got off the cab,
tapped my card sensor,
noticed my earphone wire dangling at my legs,
NOTICED MY NUDES NOT THERE,
turned back,
ran across the foyer and carpark (abt 30m),
cab had jus finished making his U-turn,
I flagged the cab in attempt to stop it (stopping short of running to the middle of the road),
driver DIN see me,
drove to the guard post,
I almost ran there (abt 100m) but turned back into the office,
couldnt find the guard post number,
looked up my hp,
dialled CityCab,
kana given another number to call (FREAK! When all I want is get them to stop the cab that jus exited Jalan Buroh Caltex),
calls the other no.(bcos i dunno the cab no.),
operator goes thru std questions (by tis time its abt 5 min since the cab drove outta the place),
finally i got all my details to her,
given job number and wait,
wait,
wait,
wait,
NO REPLY....................
Mus be cab driver nvr bother abt his msging system.
There goes my Sony Nudes.

So I tolerated 2 noisy bus trips, a few pests (insurance agents), combed JP for white Nudes and the walk from PS to Wisma on Sat. Gives me a headache. Pop into all the looks-like-will-sell-earphone places to look for Nudes. JP doesnt have the model I wan, so went to Sony Gallery at Wisma. Last Hope. I dun wanna make do with Panasonics or Audio Technicas. Nudes r like the best vacuum earplugs ever~ Others r imitations! Set me back 80 bucks but I was super happy after i got it. Immediately took it outta packaging n plug it into my Muvo n once again, Deaf To The World! I even sms-ed Meow Meow, whom i met for lunch and kopi on fri and whom i irritated with all my Nudes grumbling. I jus cant live without my Nudes, like what Socius taughts,"U nvr know what is right until something deemed wrong occurs" (Will be explained later).

Mid Autumn Festival on Sunday. I was at home envying wit Meow Meow the ppl playing sparklers downstairs at 8pm+. Meow Meow msned me if I wanna go out and deplete the ammunition balance from last yr. We tried pulling more ppl but one din pick up phone, rr was playing her tai tai mahjong game. So I'm still at home switching screens from MS to MSN and Meow Meow complaining abt the noisy sparklers (sour grapes.. hahha). 10pm, hp jumps ard. Reads msg. Hihi, tonight moon very round. Must gathering arh (Something like dat, I del the msg liao) By 10.10pm, I was all ready in front of my comp, waiting to go out with all my ammunitions and meet AU (Animals United). SUPER EFFICIENT. Proceeds to Boon Lay without my ezlink and $12 in my hp pouch (thot go downstairs only mah) bcos the tai tai rr doesnt wanna come taman jurong. Had to oblige with her request if not she'll eat me up (hahah). So we went to one of the blks there n piss them off with our noisy sparklers. AND STILL AMMUNITION LEFT OVER!! Then its our ad-hoc-out-of-the-friday-tradition lim kopi session. Left the place at 12 and had to take cab. Midnite charge somemore!

Socius class is damn chim. The notes comes in textbook-like format, aka paragraphs and paragraphs of text (at least its consistent and in order lah). The lecturer gives all examples, very chim to make u think. But I learnt a few stuff.
1) U nvr noe wat is right until something deemed wrong happened.
Ppl tend to take things for granted. Its the same as u nvr noe how impt something is to u until u lost it (my Nudes). Same concept.
2) Doctors with MSSC (Singapore) are better than MSSC (Other countries).
Bcos its harder to take Medicine in Singapore than other countries so these ppl who graduate from MSSC (Singapore aka NUS) are the cream of the crop.
3) U're not supposed to sit at the front seat of the car of an opposite sex in Korea.
Its reserved for the life partner of the driver. Not sitting there is giving respect and divorce could be filed if the partner discovers someone of the opposite sex of his/her partner is sitting at that seat.
4) Singapore govt prefers to nip problems at the bud.
Typical eg. the bloggers and the mp3 case. They give harsh punishment hoping that it'll show others wat they've done is unacceptable by the society/govt/law. If the number of offenders is huge, watever punishment the govt whips out would be useless to curb the huge force.

A lot more other eg. but I'm rushing off for Managerial Econs soon. zzz..

拖延 by 张智成

Sometimes, this is the reason y i dun like to see docs.

YPFD = Young Punk Female Doc

YPFD: Hi! How may I help u?
Me: Hi.. Arh.. Throat irritation arh..
YPFD: Oh Sore throat.. Any cough, running nose??
Me: Ya Sore throat since Sunday [-_-"], cough a bit (throat itchy of cos cough lah), running nose yesterday.
YPFD 0_0: Any fever?
Me: Measured no, but feeling feverish..
YFPD: Ok lemme take a look. (pokes an ice-cream stick into my mouth..)
YFPD: Ya..
Me: Inflammation hor?
YFPD: Ya lor. Come. (sticks a thermometer in my mouth)
YFPD: Breath. (Uses the stethoscope press press..)
YFPD: Hmm.. No energy. (How to have energy when i'm trying to balance the thermometer?)
YFPD returns to her seat, starts scribbing..
Scribbing.. Scribbing..
Thermometer finally beeps. 37.1 Normal..
YFPD: Quite normal. So I give u medicine for ur throat, nose and some antibiotics lah..
Me: Erm.. Can I have pills for EVERYTHING? Even the cough syrup??
YFPD: Ok. But its not gonna be as effective u noe?
Me: Ya, nvm, I dun like syrups..
YFPD: Ok so long as u noe its not as effective can liao.
Scribbles some more.
YFPD: Ok, can go out and get ur medicine liao. U need MC?
Me: Can give?? (Of cos i wan, if not i wun visit u at 10am n wait for 1 hr..)
YFPD: Of cos. I give u 1 day enuff?
Me: Dunno. Hopefully.(How would i noe... U're the doc, not me.)
YFPD: Never mind lah. I give u 1 day 1st, not enuff tmr u call me up.
Me: Ok thanks. (Huh.. call u up!?!?!)
YFPD: Ok Bye~~
Me: Bye~

Doctors seems like pharmists at times. They prescribe medicine according to wat u tell them. What irks me most is, docs always like to ask me," Need MC??" Hello.. I'm sick.. Contagiously sick. Coughs, Flus are contagious. Jus gimme one day mc straight lah.. ask if i need more. Hahhahaa.

My colleague got 2 days mc for a running nose. I get 1 day mc n 5 bags of medicine for my throat inflammation/pre-cold syndromes.

Can I substitute the medicine for more mcs?

To make things worse.. Maple has to be down at tis hr until 2 for patching.. AHH.. Fate has it dat I need to REST!!

Two bloggers charged under Sedition Act over racist remarks
By Pearl Forss, Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE : Two bloggers have been charged with sedition for posting racist comments online.

This is the first time bloggers are being charged in Singapore and it is sending shockwaves through the local blogging community.

Lawyers say the last time the sedition act was invoked in Singapore was at least 10 years ago.

Twenty-five-year-old Nicholas Lim Yew and 27-year-old Benjamin Koh Song Huat are being accused of posting racist comments on an online forum and on their blog site.

They are both being charged with committing a seditious act, by promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility between races in Singapore.

They were not represented by defence lawyers and were granted bail of S$10,000 each.

This charge came as a shock to many in the blogging community.

Said Singaporean blogger Benjamin Lee (Mr Miyagi):" A lot of them will be looking at their blogs and wondering if they made any legally seditious remarks. I think because of the way this will be played up, it's negative publicity for the Singapore blogging community."

"Currently if you surf the net you will come across a lot of bloggers making such comments. You will probably see a drop in such cases henceforth. At the moment I am not aware of any cases except of a case in Iran where bloggers are charged. But Iran has a different legal system from Singapore," said Leonard Loo, managing partner of Leonard Loo & Co Advocates & Solicitors.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the Media Development Authority had asked host servers to remove a racist blog from the web.

Police are now investigating this matter.

While many racist blogs by Singaporeans can be found online, the blogging community is also quick to criticize any racist comments.

Channel NewsAsia has received many emails from viewers informing us about a few racist sites.

Viewers said they were "appalled as well as disappointed that a Singaporean could condemn" other fellow Singaporeans of a different race.

Lawyers warn that anybody who forwards seditious remarks to others via email can also be charged with abetment.

The case is expected to be heard in court again on September 21.

A person is deemed to have committed an offence under the Sedition Act if he performs any act which has a seditious tendency, or conspires with any person to do so.

It is also an offence to utter any seditious words or to print, publish, sell, distribute, reproduce or import any seditious publication.

First time offenders can be fined up to S$5,000, or jailed up to three years, or both.

For subsequent offences, they can be jailed up to five years and have their seditious publications forfeited and destroyed. - CNA /ct/ls

----------------------------------------------------------------

For the blur folks like me who doesnt noe the chim word called sedition, here's the definition from The American Heritage Dictionary:

NOUN:

1. Conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state.
2. Insurrection; rebellion

----------------------------------------------------------------

I believe there had already been 42746912 blogs on this issue but still I have my bit to comment.

I haven seen their blogs or watever nonsense they wrote, which ethnic grp they're targetting on, but it mus have been REAL bad to be flamed by so many fellow netizens, to the forums, to the papers and finally to the govt agencies.

Its not easy for people coming from different background to live harmoniously together all the time. There's bound to be some conflicts. Even within ur own group, u'll see individuals who dun see eye to eye with each other even when they're living in the same district, same skin color, eats the same stuff from the same market, etc etc. Think of the infamous/notorious Chinese family neighbour dat no one wants to live beside (Cant rem their name nor the street where they reside). In US, a huge affluent country, although they only have 2 main skin colors, more often then not, there would be a case of fighting or such due to a clash btwn the 2 colors. We have 3 main races in SG + the Eurasians.

A lecturer (Global Marketing I think) once told me that in order to break into a foreign market, we must understand the culture of that market and customise our strategies to suit the market so as to gain recognition & of cos trust and sales. Its the same with life. Like one ancient philosopher said,"知己知彼 百战百胜". We have to understand the opponent (other races) so as to win the battle (live harmoniously).

The Malays have their joyous wedding at the void decks, making a din for at most 2 days. How abt Chinese? We have a sad wake at the void decks for as long as 7 days. Dun other races have to tolerate us more? And the sterotypical trend is that most Malays live on the lower floors (dunno y), dun they have to tolerate us more since the noise couldnt be shut out by simply closing the windows and on the aircons?

Most of us are racist. For the simple reason that we cannot/chose-not-to understand the reasons behind the other races actions. We also grew up under the influence of ur parents, who inbuilt a stereotypical image of bad guys in us since young. Who was the 1st person who said,"Dun be naughty arh, wait ah neh bring u go sell" in various dialects to u?

One shldnt be ethnocentric of their own ethnic group. More so if u're living in a multi-racial country. There'll not be any progress if people just stay at their grounds and have conflicts everyday. True, the stereotypes are there, e.g. Blangra = construction workers, cleaners; China girls = production operators; Indonesians = maids, but we shldnt be blind to the CEOs/Higher Mgmt who are of these ethnic groups. Who noes the next Indonesian customer u serve might well be a Finance Manager and u treat her like a maid or the next boss u work under is from one of the ethnic grp u despise?

Racism aside, shld a harsh punishment like 3 yrs jail term or $5,000 fine or both, be imposed on remarks made online??

Like what the tourist promotional board says, Singapore is a fine city. They have more than enough laws to cover each and every flaw or loopholes in the governance of the country. If a loophole exist, there'll be a law passed the next hr to prevent such cases from happening again.

The punishment is imposed to prevent any racism related riots and maintain the political stablity of Singapore. But one may wonder, isnt the govt being a self-conflicting entity, on one hand promoting freedom of speech, the other hand punishing people who makes remarks on the virtual world?

The Speaker's Corner had long since vacated. It was supposed to let citizens speak their mind, but citizens soon found out that there is a restriction on the topics for the speech. If it is offensive to the statutory boards, u'll find a lawyers' letter in the mailbox soon.

The 2 bloggers published their offensive article on the web. Seriously I'm keen to find out the tolerance level of our MDA, who often snips away the most exciting part of a movie jus bcos they think its offensive. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was PUBLISHED, a wider amt of people are able to view it and get psychologically offended. A speech would just amount to slander, publish it and it'll change to sedition.

Is Singapore being overly-protective of their citizens/reputation? We get all the cut movies, the *bip* songs, the "healthy" magazines, the "correct" tv programs. The art and true meaning had long since gone b4 it reaches our hands. Come to think of it, we're like a more lenient North Korea, which totally cuts outside influences from their citizens in order to preserve their own cultures, traditions, etc.

Singapore, being an (wanna-be) affluent country, is trying to be open-minded but still have a traditional way of governing the country. We're now being influenced to give time-doers a 2nd chance but I wonder if govt agencies will actually employ ppl who did time. If all that outside influences were altered b4 reaching us, are we now being influenced by the govt or by the outside?

I agree to the way the 2 offensive bloggers were punished, in view of preventing more social riots, but MEDIA, being a handle-less dagger, has greater power in influencing the public then the deterrence the punishment is supposed to do. I'm sure there's a lot of bloggers out there condemning the punishment or supporting it, due to its wide publicity. A few of the condemners might try to play a fool with the law to test the limit of our local MDA. Isnt that gonna cause more people to get hurt? Or what if the minority ethnic group steps out and claims that the majority group did some offensive stuff which they are innocent of and the majority are wrongly accused? Wouldnt that cause more disturbance??

Media is more influentially-powerful than the govt...

爸我回来了 by 周杰伦

The Role of Dads

The norm is that these "special" males are to slog it out outside and bring the dough home. Their wives would be tending to the screaming kids at home, disciplining the bunch of rascals and cook/wash/housekeep/iron, etc etc. The kids only get to see their dads a few hr each day and maybe play with him for the whole weekend if they're not shooing the kids outta room for some well-deserved rest.

Kids tend to stick to their mums more since 1)they're the one who's always ard when they need help (if mum's not working); 2)the 1st to respond to ur cries(with either cuddlings or canings); 3)they've been in their body for 9 mths b4; 4)dad's tired.

SO wat's up with all the daddy talk?

I was on a bus yest to head for my study site. 1st came a family, kid & dad sitting behind me, mum beside me. Then the kid starts to make a din, kicking my chair (if i could, i'll slap the bugger). Mum turns to coax the fella. Fella continues. Dad stood up for the mum to sit in his place. Isnt sitting with Dad same as sitting with Mum?

A few stops later, up comes another threesome. Mum carrying the baby and Dad was armoured with a haversack, some barangs and a baby pram! I'll nvr bring a pram if i noe i'm gonna take public transport. I rather carry the kid in those kiddy straps or even better, throw the fella to Dad while i do shopping. Kekekekeke. Anyway back to the threesome. When they alight, Mum carried the baby + a huge plastic flowerpot in a plastic bag and Dad was struggling with the pram. Then Mum gave Dad the plastic bag and walks right off with the baby, ignoring the Dad still struggling with the pram. (Wah! Quarrel arh?)

I parked myself at Mac, and set up my territory amongst the other stud-iers. Families stroll in and out, kids in toll, running abt, whrecking the peace consensus dat was maintained by the stud-iers. Most families, I noticed, Mums were the ones to buy the Happy Meals etc etc while Dads were the ones to either visit the loo 1st, or waiting/chopping the seats. Kids naturally are with Mums.

Dad seems lonely.

One particular family, Mum, Dad, 3 kids and Maid. 6 ppl, but they chose to occupy 3 different sets of seats. 1 kid with Maid, 1 with Mum, 1 with Dad. The place where Maid and kid sits, neighbours the 4 seater where Dad and kid sits. Mum and kid sits behind Dad and kid. Y so segregated when Mum and kid could take the empty 2 seats from the 4 seater of Dad and kid?? Dad here is lonely too, when all the kids followed Mum to get the meals.

So what's the role of Dads? Breadwinner? Chauffeur? Seat Chopper? Butler?

I grew up in a traditional family. Dad and Mum works b4 giving birth to my bro so I was with my Ah Ma all the time. I dun remember them bringing me to Mac for a meal and I dun kick a fuss not having it. Frankly speaking, like what my Ah Ma says, I dun give a damn to where my parents are going, but I pester my Ah Ma to bring me when she's going out, so she had to sneak out most of the time.

Dad was the sole breadwinner b4 my 2nd bro came along. My 2nd bro sticks to my Mum, my 1st bro sticks to... Dad i think, if he wans him to buy electrical stuff. Me? I stick more to my Mum but we dun have family outings.

Mum's the one waving the cane most of the time and spankling my 1st bro for his behavior. I dun remember I got spanked badly. I dun really recall being spanked at all. They dun really believe in spanks actually, jus dat my 1st bro is really too much to use the soft approach. Dad, holds the cane maybe to whip lizards?

To conclude, Dads shld spend more time with their kids and Mums shld educate their kids to converse more with Dad, so that I will be able to see more smiling families with Mums and Dads in equal footings and kids in the middle getting held both sides~

Having a kopi session with the animals r the best. Always laughters ard, and aids in forgetting all the nonsense I'm getting thrown at at work. Birdy jus came back from Taiwan with 铁蛋s (I refuse to try bcos its in garlic flavour, anyway not dat fantastic from the expression of Meow Meow & RR), DIY 3D animals (no cow so I got the 贱狗), SD Gundams (which could be bought in SG). I got Freedom, Strike Freedom and Destiny from the bunch of SD gundams. ^_^ They dun seem hot with the others.. ahahhaha..

I soft-rebonded my hair!! N... No one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE NOTICES IT!!! At least its neater lah. Supposed to tahan 3 days dun wash hair. I 1 DAY ALREADY BTH LIAO. I washed it after one full day, 3 baths. Its giving me a fever if I dun get my head to cool.

The past week was bz like freak. Customs statement + biz analyst stuff. All lum together on my busiest period. I went home consecutively at 7pm for 3 days...

Next week start lectures again. 3 modules together.. I'm like.. dying....

p.s. Oh ya its been 4 yrs since 9/11 incident. Time flies.

终结孤单 by 五月天

I had a bizarre dream Sunday morning. I was at Suntec/dunno where, some posh Suntec like building, attending dunno wat. I wanted to go to the ladies, so I walked past another function (Suntec dun have tis place so the dunno where comes in). Super high ceiling, huge place, almost like Indoor Stadium. A wedding it seems, but it looks like a funeral too. The white drapes especially. I looked in while walking past on my way to the toilet. I saw... THE COUPLE & BRIDESGROOM/MAID HAD THE SIMPSONS HAIR!! Those kinda Afro-like stuff. I almost burst out laffing and had to stifle my giggles bcos their guests were oozing outta entrance. Its dat many ppl.

I reached the toilet, scene switched. Now I was IN THE WEDDING. With performers now. Uncannily located behind me, dunno y. Up comes tis Yanzi fella (compere say), with an accompaniment, singing 超快感, getai style. I took out my phone and tries to take pic. Zoom in, eeyer how come the eyes pak jiao one. Then the song was totally out of pitch, torturing to the ears. The pak jiao fella saw me with my hp cam, she came closer, like those celebrities who likes to play with the camera man by stuffing their face into the camera lens. Made me wanna puke man. (Mus be the overexposure of superstar effect) Then she ask, "u taking photo of me?" Me being totally disgusted,"NO, I taking the ceiling drapes. U sing until like dat u think I wanna waste my memory meh? Take ceiling drapes oso nicer than take u lah. I wanna go off liao, I think a lot of ppl oso lun-ing diah." With dat, I started packing my bag. Couple of ppl went outta door. The couple soon became hundreds. The pak jiao fella 下不了台 n gotta continue singing the out-of-pitch song. The hall was left with less than half when I grabbed my bag and walked outta hall. My fren who was sitting beside me, was waiting for me outside.

Scene 3, we followed the crowd, to dunno where. The crowd thins out, we're walking past a void deck. Soon we reached a dark alley and another small-sized guy fren (I absolutely dunno who tis fella is, all i noe is he's our fren). We continued walking and was surrounded by a bunch of ah bengs n ah lians. One of the ah bengs grabbed my hand, "Can I have ur hp?" Me act blur. (I was half awake at tis time.) He starts to try to punch me. Dunno from which comic I read dat we're in control of our dreams. So I became a martial arts black belt. Kick. Punch. Hurricane Kick. Single-handedly took on 10++ thugs. I found no pt to carry on tis dream and woke up. Neck tired oso. It was 12 noon.

Bizarre rite. Crazy dream. I seldom dream, or dat I can rem. But the Simpson hairstyle is really too... 夸张! It made me rem even thou its already 2 days since the dream.

I went back JSS on sat. With Meow Meow. Its been, 7 yrs since we grad. How very long dat is. Teachers r still the same, crapped with 死鬼 (Hokkien pronounciation) Ms Chan and MONKEY-NAPPED her long limbs monkey. DAMN CUTE OK. Meow Meow monkey-napped it from me and hung it ard herself like a parachute bag. Shld have taken a pic of it. 禽兽 is still 禽兽. Looks so young still even thou she's.. erm.. 36? Still waiting for a chance to carry her baby. Ms Tng already had 2 liao! Tok to 禽兽 really gotta crank up my brain juices to max productivity, if not will tio suan until dunno where to hide.

Was there for abt an hr, b4 the bunch of us, 死鬼, 禽兽, 2 more students and a young-look-more-like-student-than-teacher teacher proceeded to lunch. Went to the multi-storey hawker centre in 禽兽's "儿子". A white Toyota Corolla. VERY NICE~ The white color lah. Went up the spiral route to the carpark dat made 禽兽 curse and swear. DAMN funny.

JSS teachers r fabulous & cool. At least those I met n kept in contact with. They dun really have the stern face, at least not in class. And they're really humans too. They curse, they swear, they crap, they criticize on everything, they suan ppl until they've no space to retaliate. Woah~ U nvr realise they're teachers when we're in a bunch since they're in like.. berms and tees. VERY lok kok. They dun care, they say no one see on sat oso.

Met up with the poly folks after drums. Pasta dinner - Coffee Connection chill out session (where i stuck my foot into the space btwn the railing and the glass panel and had to dislodge it by taking out my shoe). They went on for a late-nite show (11+) which was when I really bueh tahan wanna zone off liao. Seriously not into movies. I rather have ktv!~ kekkekeke..

Half day today, going salon.

Katrina

Even thou its far across the Pacific Ocean, it has affected our lives here. Chevron is requesting for volunteers to help out in humanitarian aid. Engineering, Construction, First Aid, IT(like for wat?), Emergency Response, etc etc, skills are needed. I have none. Not dat I dun wanna go. I thot further. Who will cover my work? My sup? And the biz analyst seems to have an interest, dat means, I'll have to cover him. 2 1/2 persons job. I wanna request for pay increment (and change in my job title) if dat happens. Call me a backuper.

Now for political issues. Remember Aceh tsunami last yr? Who was the one who sent armys on an overnight flight? How come tis time round there's no news of them in US? Contrast of attitudes? And it seems like not much countries are expressing their help. Australia pledges USD$7.5 million compared to Chevron's USD$5 million. I haven heard of any other pledges or armys deployed to help.

Maybe its due to the fear of getting the terrorist's attention. This Katrina seems to be sent by the terrorist, camouflaged as a natural disaster. The losses due to Katrina is far worse than the collapse of Twin Towers. If the terrorists were to plan anything now, US will not have the sufficient strength to defend against it.

Troops fresh back from Iraq were sent on another mission. To shoot looters. Doesnt the looters jus simply only loot? Y aint they deployed for search and rescue instead? The recovery work looks messy. And its widely, spread.

All we get in Sg is rain + occasion lightning. We're very very fortunate.

Trade Wars

Flurry of trades these few days.

1stly, Owen goes to Newcastle after a "benchful" experience at Real. Going to Real, in the 1st place is a bad choice. They already had a star-studded lineup dat puts a meteor shower to shame. Y be a 4th/5th choice striker at some famous Spanish club when u can get a good EPL team where they're willing to build the team ard u. Only good return from going to Real is increasing ur value. Anyway finally Owen's back in EPL, I can see more of him oso.

Then came the news in NBA. Van Exel goes to SA Spurs. Jus a few min ago, another news. Finley chooses Spurs over Heat/Phoenix. SA Spurs will be REALLY strong next season. They have Manu/Bowen/Barry/Horry + Van Exel/Finley at 3pt, Duncan/Parker/Manu/Finley/Oberto in the paint, Manu/Parker/Van Exel/Finley on breaks, Duncan/Mohammed/Manu/Horry/Oberto on the boards. Brown and Robinson r on the FA list. Most probably Spurs will retain them if price is still affordable.

I think all Spurs need now is a strong, experienced and tested deliverable centre/forward. Relying on Duncan alone is risky. But still, the current lineup is able to drop jaws. Van Exel is a better backup for Parker than Udrih. Finley can cover Bowen/Manu or have a Manu/Parker/Finley 3 tips attack! Greg Popovich. U're the man!

Spurs Spurs Spurs~~~

Recaps
Its September. The whole monthly cycle renews itself. Running reports, fixing some bugs here n there in my "little excel program".

Its getting boring.

It HAS BEEN boring.

I've a temptation to get transferred to Caltex House since its like, I can meet up with frens working nearby. More food to eat, more interaction, MORE STRESS. But the "old villagers" need me here. They'll perform a tribal sacrifice if i go. Sacrificial? Me.

Quite a lot happened since I last blogged, but I haven really got the time or inspiration to sit down n let my fingers reduce the life span of the keyboard. Even now, its been half an hr since i pressed the Create A New Post button. Brain not really functioning well with all the late night Maplestorying.

Just last mth, the newspapers were flooded with bombing, now its flooded with floods/hurricanes/typhoons aka natural disasters. News of massive human wipeouts doesnt seem to end. (and Aceh is still recovering from the deadly tsunami)

This Katrina thing, had devastated some oil rigs, caused oil plants to stop production while the workers take cover. Which leads to.. shortage of oil globally, in turn, rising petrol prices. Its at a freaking S$1.99 per litre for Premium petrol, after a 9 cents increase and 3 cents decrease to make the figure nicer. There're enuff 1.99 shops all over Singapore, we dun need 1.99 petrol to make us greed from the "its less than 2 bucks" perception. Next thing to rise will be our public transport prices. Once increased, it jus climb the endlessly to the peak with no way downhill. Its practically forcing ppl to walk to work or might as well sleep in office.

We shldnt be blaming the petrol companies for jumping at the opportunity to raise prices. As an insider, I can tell u, they are rising petrol prices EVERYWHERE. Global standardisation. Basic Economics. The govt shld be the one stepping in to help the poor cab drivers trying to make ends meet and who earns lesser and lesser with the rise of fuel expenses or the common drivers who had to downgrade to stuffy hawker centres jus to pay the fuel to get them to work. Midnight surcharge jus starts earlier and earlier and get hit by ERPs virtually EVERYWHERE.

For those driving big huge heavy petrol consumption SUVs, u have urself to blame. Y drive an SUV to hog road space when there's only 4 ppl in ur family. A 1.6ltr Toyota Corolla is sufficient for ur family and goes ez on ur pockets. Dun complain abt the petrol companies. U shld kick ur nicely polishly SUVs for literally delivering money to the petrol companies' accounts.

Places like Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia, ONE protest or riot is all that they need to control the price level. (Subsidies, price ceilings etc.) In Sg, protest or riot will give u free lodging and food in jail. Social stability, yes we've achieved, but ur citizens jus looks like weaklings. Unable to stand up for themselves. Democracy? Freedom of Speech? How abt a seat in the court's dock? So wat can we do?? We suffer in silence.

Seriously i hope there's an election for my district. I'll GLADLY vote for the opposition. + I wan the holiday. Walkovers r jus too boring.

I jus read tis: Forbes predicts oil prices will fall to USD$30-35 per barrel within a yr. Doesnt seem impossible with all the natural disasters occurring and stopping production or ruining oil rigs. Unless OPEC caps the price or increases production. I'll be surprised if it jus falls to $48 per barrel. Report mentions it was the continual increment of US reserves that leads to the shortage of oil in the market dat leads to the high price. If US lowers its reserve amt and releases the extras to the market, oil prices will fall tremendously. But when will it be? They recently release a portion to bring the price below $70 per barrel. Doesnt really make a drastic impact. And with the terrorist problems at hand, I dun suppose US will wan to decrease its reserves. Since if it angers the Middle East, war or watever, they discontinue their supply of oil, (US will get rich by selling their reserves here at sky-high prices.) US will fall into a recession/social unrest if their oil reserve is not enuff.

Oh speaking abt cab drivers. (I got a feeling tis post will run very long.) With PM Lee mentioning abt service stds in sg, may I propose that the 1st thing they look at is the ATTITUDES of cab drivers? Since they're like, the 1st svc providers tourist will experience when they wan to go to their hotels other than those retailers at the airport who are probably already world class service providers since they noe their target market and they had to protect the image of Sg from being tarnished.

But cab drivers, they drive around everywhere. Who noes when they'll meet a tourist. Are they gonna avoid picking up tourists desperately waving their arms at the roadside even thou their cabs r empty? (I've seen cab drivers do tis b4.) Tourists are vulnerable, they jus wan to get to where the map shows them and they depend on u, cabbies, or maybe the innocent passerby to show them the directions. I always kana, do I have a walking roadmap face? Sometimes I offered to bring them to the location if I noe where and I have the time but these tourist will kindly refuse my offer for fear of bringing inconvenience to me. For the amt of money we pay, at least jus give us a pleasant 15 min journey and most importantly, DRIVE US TO THE RIGHT PLACE!!

I took a freaking angried ride a few days ago. (Or was it yest? SSTM doing its thing on my brain.) I hopped on at JE, requested to go Jalan Buroh. The fella gave me a Jalan Buroh where expression. I explained, Caltex, go by Jurong Town Hall. He keeps asking me to repeat even thou I was speaking clearly, slowly and almost virtually shouting. (Problem with my slang accent?) Every qn he ask, I have to repeat and he keeps shaking his head. (He's not Indian even!) Grumpy driver. Like I very mah fan like dat when its jus a journey from JE! Upon reaching my office, I told and repeated umpteen times to the bugger to turn AFTER the arrow. He turned into the service station and promptly stopped there, refusing to move even thou i told him wrong one, move A BIT in front, repeating again. Bugger only interested in collecting money from me. $6+ from JE 0_0. Fark him. I hope he doesnt get any customers on the way to where he wanna go. (I think he going Clementi side since he asked me where else can U-Turn. I said no, straight road until Penjuru, go JP and pick up customers lah.)

If Singaporeans can get fed up with cabbies, I dun see y tourist wun have the temptation to throw their foreign notes at the faces of the disgraceful drivers. Wat if they wanna go Jurong u drive them to Changi? Expect them to take a flight to land at the Tuas airbase?

The past 3 days since Monday was crazily maddening packed. Meetings, IPO, Visits, Permits, etc etc. I was in my seat for like only 2 hrs on Tues b4 i went into Terminal for IPO and then went Furama Riverfront for a seminar. Had to rush my day's work within the 2 hrs.

Yest, rushed one hr on my permit checking, went for IPO since I only managed to do 1 the other day, came back and finished checking/rechecking/printing/informing/delivering the blanket permits. Stuck in Terminal until 11+ to fulfil my target of 2 IPOs per mth. i din wana procrastinate till the last few days but I had to wait for a freaking someone to pei her do. Went for SPD site visit yest. Gonna do charity work tis mth. (or issit? SSTM again.) Deliver groceries. At least its a break from work officially during office hrs. Made me rush my whole day's work within 2 hrs in the morning as I thot we'll be released from there but NO!! Came back at 4, slacked until 5.30 before going back.

2.30pm Jus back from lunch at Nasi Padang Rivervalley. Aint real nice, at least i dun like. All these hi-cholesterol meals r making me fat. I jus had chappatti at Tekka market the other day b4 attending a safety seminar.

Speaking of the seminar, it was darn boring. I was only awake during the incident investigation part. The whole thing is not related to my scope of work. Kana arrowed to go. Only good thing is, I get to go off early. 4++.

Latest news: Diesel pump price increases. $1.22 per litre now. Expect frequent changes these few days.

Went WOMAD the other day. Les Yeux Noirs was cool. Way way cool. I bought their CD even thou its 30 bucks. Their version of Sabre Dance was nice too. I jus love ppl who can fuse pop and classical and can play violins at breakneck speed. WeeWeet~
